Roast Dinner Day

The 4th November is National Roast Dinner Day, and we have compiled a list of recipes for a full Yorkshire Roast below (as a person from Yorkshire, I approve these recipes!)

Traditionally, this meal was called a Sunday Roast in the UK, being eaten with the family on Sundays after church. I grew up with a Roast Dinner every Sunday, together with my family in Yorkshire, and love the idea of starting to do them with friends in London whilst at university. Things like this make it feel like home for me, and is a great way for others to experience some classic British food!

Most of these recipes are from the website BBC Food. If you aren’t from the UK, or just haven’t cooked that much, you may not be familiar with this website, BBC Food houses thousands of free recipes written by top chefs and bakers, with step-by step instructions that are (mostly, depending on the recipe!) easy to follow.

Whatever you do, don’t forget the Yorkshire Puddings!

If you fancy yourself quite the chef, take a look at the recipes below:

Vegan Roast

Of course this is dairy free, but if you need dairy free but eat meat, take a look at one of the roast meat recipes below as well.

Meat Roast Dinners

You can totally just buy components to a roast dinner from home. If you aren’t keen on cooking, you can just buy ready-made parts of a roast dinner and heat it up!

Some ideas are:

  • Yorkshire puddings
  • Meat/protein
  • Cauliflower cheese
  • Roast potatoes
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Gravy granules
  • Vegetables
  • Stuffing
