Your Representative

I am Sheeba Naaz, your Vice President Postgraduate for 2025-26. I am originally from New Delhi, India, and I completed my Master's in Terrorism, Security and Society with the Department of War Studies. This is my second year as a Full-Time Officer, and I am truly excited to continue representing and advocating for the postgraduate community, both taught and research.

My work is guided by inclusivity, academic excellence, and the overall growth of students. As we step into the new term, I will be focusing on three main priorities: decolonising and diversifying curricula, creating a festival-friendly timetable, and ensuring students have a clear understanding of AI policies.

King's has always been my dream place to study. Once I decided to pursue security studies, the Department of War Studies was the obvious choice as it is home to some of the world's leading experts. Honestly, for me, it was either Kings or nothing!

Outside of my role, I am a big foodie and find cooking therapeutic. I especially enjoy making Mughlai dishes from the heart of Delhi. On the flip side, I am also into weightlifting (deadlifts are my favourite, squats… not so much, but we have a love-hate relationship!). I am a big chai lover too, the traditional Indian masala chai boiled with spices and milk, which I can argue any day is better than English tea! I also collect books, though I admit about 70% of them are still waiting to be read.

My journey to becoming an Officer started with my own experience as an international student. I faced challenges with modules, timetables, career guidance, and balancing extra-curricular activities. Before long, I realised I wasn't the only one. Many other students were struggling too, and I wanted to do something about it. Becoming a Full-Time Officer gave me the platform to make a real difference for future postgraduates at Kings.

The priorities I have chosen were directly informed by listening to students, and at the heart of all these priorities is one goal: to make King's a truly inclusive place where students can thrive academically and personally. Your experiences, your voices, and your successes are what drive this work forward.

My Goals

Improving Students' AI Literacy

One of the most pressing issues has been the lack of clarity around the use of AI in academic work. Too often, students are unfairly penalised or left without proper guidance. Addressing this is essential to ensure fairness. I'll be working on developing students' AI literacy and awareness of responsible use. Working with King's to embed an ethical AI policy.

January 2026: AI Manifesto

Throughout November and December 2025, I worked with KCLSU's Student Voice team to hold a series of workshops, where students from across campuses and faculties shared their experiences and concerns regarding AI in education.

The King’s Student AI Manifesto is a result of those conversations.

Diversifying the King's Curriculum

Partner with King's to deliver best practice guidance on diversifying the curriculum. For a global university like King's, where nearly half our students are international, it is vital to move beyond Eurocentric perspectives. Broadening our curricula and teaching not only helps international students feel they belong but also gives home students the chance to critically engage with global perspectives.

Creating an Inclusive Assessment Policy

An 'Inclusive Assessments' policy that protects against scheduling during a defined list of key religious festivals. I want to ensure that deadlines and assessments don't clash with major religious or cultural celebrations. No student should have to choose between celebrating their traditions and doing well academically.
