Artificial intelligence is a growing part of student life at King’s - and students want a say in how it evolves.
Throughout November and December 2025, alongside your VP (Postgraduate) Sheeba Naaz, we held a series of workshops, where students from across campuses and faculties shared their experiences and concerns regarding AI in education.
The King’s Student AI Manifesto is a result of those conversations.
Students raised concerns about how AI is changing learning, as well as the ethical and environmental impacts. At the same time, many shared that they use AI as a tool to support their studies. There’s also a growing sense that students need to keep up with their peers and prepare for future workplaces shaped by AI.
What united users and sceptics alike was their concern that AI was creating a culture of suspicion, undermining trust between students and staff, and devaluing genuine student achievement. Ultimately, students were clear that King’s needs a shared, transparent vision to guide how AI is used now and in the future.
Through our workshops, students developed five principles that form a collective vision to shape King’s long-term engagement with AI. These are supported by three priorities that outline the practical first steps for putting this vision into action.
