Staff Support

This page provides staff members working in the area of Academic Representation with resources to support the students they work with.

Key areas within Academic Representation KCLSU can support you with:

  • Elections We support with the running of elections twice a year (Spring and August) either by running these elections through our elections system or providing best practice guidance to faculty Student Experience Teams and Students on how elections should be run!
  • Training KCLSU works in collaboration with the 9 faculties to carry out Academcic Representative training at the start of every academic year. We also run additional training sessions throughout the Academic year in Facilitating Meetings, Effective Representation and Navigating and Negotiating with Senior Stakeholders.
  • Academic Associations We support Academic Associations (e.g. Law Council, MSA etc) by providing them with President and Treasurer online training in Finance, GDPR, Wellbeing, Room Bookings and External Speakers. We also provide 1 to 1 support and meet Association leads on a regular basis. This forms part of our Community Organising approach where we put like minded students in touch with each other so they can enact change at a local or college-wide level.
  • Defining and Supporting Representation Over the past academic year, we have been working to understand what Representation means at King's, and produce guidance to support faculties improve their Representatation Structures. Further information can be found below.
  • Emerging issues Additionally, we provide support on understanding student sentiment around more far-reaching issues issues such as the Covid-19 Pandemic. For further information on actions taken on this topic, please click here
