University Mental Health Day

University Mental Health Day is taking place on Thursday 9th March. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about mental health, promote support and resources for those who may be struggling with mental health issues, and make sure that mental health is a university-wide priority.

Attending university can be an exciting and challenging time for many students. As a student, it's easy to get caught up in the hectic pace of university life. The pressures of academic achievements, socialising, and financial concerns can take a toll on our mental wellbeing. Research shows that around one in four students experience a mental health issue during their time at university.

The university should be a supportive environment that promotes student success and wellbeing and to do so it must prioritise student mental health, expand its mental health services and implement policies that promote an inclusive and welcoming campus community. University Mental Health Day highlights the crucial need for persisting efforts to improve the mental health of students. The King’s Student Wellbeing Survey (KSWS) is King's mechanism to measure the wellbeing of students and develop strategies and initiatives to best support us. You can complete the survey by going to the link here.

It's important to remember that, as a student struggling with mental health challenges, you are not alone in this, we are here to support you. Remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, and there is no shame in reaching out for support when you need it. Don't hesitate to explore the mental health resources offered by KCL and KCLSU.
