5 things to do this wellbeing week

Wellbeing Week at KCLSU is a time to discover ways to make us thrive and support our wellbeing. We all have incredible potential that we can fulfil best when our physical and mental wellbeing is flourishing.

We have compiled a list of 5 things you can do this week to support your wellbeing

  1. Attend a wellbeing event

KCLSU runs a number of initiatives throughout the year to promote students’ wellbeing. Time at university can be incredibly strenuous both with workload and social life and juggling different commitments can be difficult. This week, it is especially important that we take time for ourselves. We have prepared an array of different events to help us do so. Take a look at the events page

  1. Do something you enjoy

One of the best ways to support your wellbeing is to do something you enjoy. This could be something creative such as drawing, knitting, dancing or playing an instrument, or it could be watching your favourite Netflix show with a cup of tea. It could be spending time with your friends or family, or outdoors. Whatever it is, make sure to carve out time solely for you.

  1. Make time for physical activity

Physical exercise or going to the gym has positive effects on both our physical and mental wellbeing. Exercise helps with mood regulation, for example being able to channel negative emotions, as well as improving self-esteem and cognitive function, or in other words brain power! If you already exercise regularly, try a new sport or dance class, or participate in some recreational sport instead.

  1. Discover a new hobby

Trying out a new hobby not only improves your skills at something, but your wellbeing too! Write a list of all of the things you have always wanted to try, and pick one, it can be at random if you can’t decide. Plus, we have a huge list of KCLSU Activity Groups that can help you try out a new hobby.

  1. Prioritise rest

As the academic year progresses, and our workloads increase, sleep and quality rest can find themselves lower on our list of priorities. This Wellbeing Week, make an effort to get a good nights 8 hours sleep wherever possible, and schedule in opportunities to rest from work throughout the week.

However you choose to spend Wellbeing Week, make sure you keep your best interests at heart.
