Welcome to the Official King’s College London University Cricket Club.

The King’s College London Cricket Club (KCLCC) is one of London’s original and elite University Cricket teams and offers KCL students the opportunity to proudly represent the KCL colours and name on the cricket field.

About KCLCC

KCLCC is a club steeped with success since its conception in the early 19th century by the founder of the University, Arthur Wellesley. Fast forward to the 21st century and that success is still here; beating rivals UCL consecutively from 2018 through to 2021, being Indoor Nationals Finalists in 2018, and lifting the Macadam Cup in 2017. Our reputation of excellence is illustrated through the caliber of players at the club, catering to former International and County age group players in our current squad. KCLCC is known for producing some of the best University cricketers in London, who go on to play for the MCC.

We are a club that prides itself on the quality of our players but also the inclusivity of them too. We warmly welcome seasoned pros and complete beginners to the club with open arms and love adding new members to our growing family. We are a family that consists of freshers to final year PhD students, officially catering to all courses and backgrounds, from medics and dentists to linguists and economists from all around the world!

Cricket at KCLCC

In the 2023/24 Academic Year we will be putting out 2 Competitive Outdoor Teams allowing all KCLCC members the opportunity to play cricket during their time at University! Joining KCLCC gives students the rare opportunity to train at both the world-renowned Oval and Lord's, making us the only University side in London to train there twice a week, every week, all year round! As well as that, we have a superb coaching team that will help all KCLCC members take their game to the next level and access to a Strength & Conditioning Coach to keep us fit through the winter season.

Additionally, in preparation for the cricket season, to complement our weekly training at the Oval and Lord's, we partake in both BUCS and LUSL outdoor leagues. This gives a chance for players to participate in both 50 over and T20 formats at a very competitive level, gaining valuable game experience. Following our playing season, we are also looking to tour to the Netherlands, to train and play with and against academy sides there.

Our summer season also features a series of marquee fixtures, such as our Varsity against UCL and Finals Day (with LSE, Imperial, and UCL) just to name a few. Additionally, KCLCC will participate in a variety of interclub and friendly matches against London clubs to allow everyone to gain crucial match experience and improve their own games.

Socials

Moving on from sport, we have a committed and legendary social scene which allows our members to bond and gel outside of training and matches, forming life long friendships and strengthing our family spirit at the club. We hold weekly socials as a club, which may include and is not limited to, Paintballing, Go-Karting, Bowling, Golf Driving Range, Pub Crawls and Dinners! Being part of this sports club means that we also get access to the infamous KCL Sports Nights at the Vault and Guy’s Bar, staples of the KCL university experience. We also indulge in thematic socials, such as during Halloween, and schedule several joint socials with other clubs around KCL such as the Ladies' hockey, cricket, and cheerleading teams. KCLCC also offers an annual social foreign tour. Our social tours have seen us travel to varied destinations such as Budapest, BarcelonaLisbon and most recently Prague. Typically taking the course of one weekend, the tours allow our club to sample alternative cultures as well as offering a unique opportunity to bond.

Partnerships

At KCLCC, we have forged partnerships with several different organisations to keep KCLCC members active in the wider community and to also enjoy their university experience more.

SANE

SANE is a leading UK mental health charity. They work to improve the quality of life for anyone affected by mental illness.

SANE was established in 1986 to improve the quality of life for people affected by mental illness, following the overwhelming public response to a series of articles published in The Times entitled The Forgotten Illness.

SANE's vision has remained consistent throughout its history: to raise public awareness; excite research, and bring more effective professional treatment and compassionate care to everyone affected by mental illness.

SANE is a UK-wide charity working to improve the quality of life for people affected by mental illness. SANE has three main objectives linked to our aims and outcomes:

  1. To raise awareness and combat stigma about mental illness, educating and fighting to improve mental health services.
  2. To provide care and emotional support for people with mental health problems, their families and carers as well as information for other organisations and the public.
  3. To promote and host research into the causes and more effective treatments of mental illness such as schizophrenia and depression and the psychological and social impact of mental illness.

SANE offers emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental health problems through our helplineTextcare and our online Support Forum where people share their feelings and experiences.

These services are provided by our team of volunteers who undergo rigorous training and in many cases give hundreds of hours of their free time each year.

Our Caller Care service led by professional staff provides ongoing support to help people alleviate a crisis phase or get through difficult circumstances.
