Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that emphasises attacks from the ground and on the back, which, for other martial arts, is a weak/vunerable position. It relies on technique rather than strength to defend, control and then submit your opponent, so anyone of any body type can see success with the moves and techniques and apply them to practical self-defence scenarios outside of the gym (though try not to go around assaulting your friends with armbars).
Our training times for the second semester of the 2019/20 year will be as follows:

We don't expect everyone to just have a Gi lying around at first, so if you're a beginner don't worry about having one before coming to training, just make sure to bring comfortable sportswear!
All of our sesions will be held at Bush House South-East wing, 8th Floor in the activity rooms given above.
The membership fee can be purchased here for £27. Sessions are then £2 for members and £4 for non-members, payable to one of our commitee members after the sessions.
BJJ is a really fun sport no matter what your goals are, whether you want to enjoy it as a hobby or take it competitively, it's entirely up to you, so give it a go, and see if you like it!
