Welcome to the KCL Jazz Society page!
We're the King's College London Jazz Society. If you're interested in listening to or performing jazz, meeting other jazz aficionados, and attending live gigs and concerts, then you're in the right place! Players and enthusiasts of all standards are welcome!
The society consists of the KCL Jazz Orchestra, the King's Big Band and our smaller 'Strand Sessions' ensembles. All of our ensembles perform on many occasions throughout the year both inside and outside of King's College London. We also have a lively social calendar, with many nights out planned to pubs, bars and live-music venues within the vibrant London scene. We welcome both playing and non-playing members to join this active and ambitious society. Join this group and get in touch to find out more!
The society has performed at many prominent venues across London and has recorded for BBC2. The King's Big Band have also recorded an album at the University of Surrey - Wind Machine - available on Spotify and Apple Music.

Big Band & Jazz Orchestra:
We perform at a variety of events throughout the academic year including our own concerts as well as private functions, balls and college events.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings during term-time.
Our smaller jazz ensembles, our Strand Sessions, run every Monday evening during term-time. Anyone with any instrument can participate, in an aim to produce exciting and enjoyable music in a relaxed environment.
This is a great way to meet fellow jazz players and work on your improvisation and playing abilities, with regular gig and jam session opportunities. Follow us on instagram @kcljazzsoc to keep updated!
All of our ensembles are available for hire - suitable for society balls / dinners / weddings / events / birthdays / work functions. Email Sasha Sumption at [email protected] for more information.
