Welcome to the KCL Jazz Society page!
We're the King's College London Jazz Society. If you're interested in listening to jazz, performing jazz with our award-winning Big Band or small jazz ensembles, meeting others who are passionate about jazz and live music and attending live gigs and concerts, then you're in the right place! Players and enthusiasts of all standards are welcome.
The Society consists of the award-winning King's Big Band and our small jazz ensembles. Both the Big Band and our Jazz ensembles perform on many occasions over the year both inside and outside of Kings College London. We also have a lively social calendar, with many nights out planned to Jazz bars and gigs taking place within the vibrant London Jazz scene. We welcome both playing and non-playing members to join this active and ambitious society. Join this group and get in touch if you would like to find out more!
The Society have performed at many prominent venues across London and have recorded for BBC2. The King's Big Band have also recently recorded an album at the University of Surrey - Wind Machine - available on Spotify and Apple Music.
The Society is planning to be operating in person and online this year. Both the Big Band and the Jazz ensembles will be operating social distancing this year, with plans for performances in the 1stand 2nd semester. Join this society for access to live music this year.

King's Big Band perform at a variety of events throughout the academic year including private functions, balls and College events.
Rehearsals are every Wednesday of term-time from 7-9pm
Regular jazz ensemble rehearsals are run throughout term-time. Anyone from any instrument can participate, in an aim to produce some exciting and enjoyable music in a relaxed environment.
This is a great way to meet fellow jazz players and work on your improvisation and playing abilities.
If you love jazz and want to continue playing your instrument at King’s, this is the perfect way. There are regular concert opportunities, performing with and alongside the King's Big Band at concerts as well as headlining their own gigs.
The small Jazz ensembles are also available for hire, so you can gain valuable opportunities and experience playing around King's College London as well as in numerous external venues.
The Society also hosts regular jam sessions throughout the year at various venues around King's and KCLSU. Follow our Facebook page (KLC Jazz Society), Twitter (@KingsBigBand1), Instagram (@KCLJazzSoc) and our website (www.kingsbigband.com) for updates.
The Society will be engaging in widening participation projects throughout the year. If you’re interested in participating in these activities, please contact us.
