Overview

Following the success of the Book Event with Shon Faye for Trans Awareness Week 2021, this LGBT+ History Month the LGBT+ Network is organising TWO author events. For this first one, we invite you to join us for a conversation with Jeremy Atheron Lin (https://jeremyathertonlin.com/) about his book, "Gay Bar: Why We Went Out". Description of 'Gay Bar': "Strobing lights and dark rooms; throbbing house and drag queens on counters; first kisses, last call: the gay bar has long been a place of solidarity and sexual expression—whatever your scene, whoever you’re seeking. But in urban centers around the world, they are closing, a cultural demolition that has Jeremy Atherton Lin wondering: What was the gay bar? How have they shaped him? And could this spell the end of gay identity as we know it?". During the event, you will get a chance to engage in a audience-participatory conversation with Jeremy about the topic of his book, whether you've read it or not. There will be discounted copies available to buy and get signed at the event.
