Explore Black history in a celebration of culture and community through KCLSU, King's and student run events.

Let's share our Black History Month photos and videos by tagging @kclsu and using the hashtag #bhm2018 on social media. Happy Black History Month!

Black History

October is Black History Month in the UK. Here at KCLSU, it's a time to celebrate our students who are of African and Caribbean heritage. We shine a spotlight on their achievements and contributions to our King's and KCLSU community.

Black History Month is also a time to celebrate 500 years of Black British history, highlighting the brilliant contributions by Black Britons and black people globally, looking at their history, challenges and journeys.

What's New

Through consensus, we've changed the way we celebrate Black History Month at KCLSU. While our People of Colour Network represents diverse groups, Black History Month this year will be a focussed celebration of the culture and history of people of African and Caribbean heritage.

Liberation Networks

Students at King's who identify as Black are automatically part of the People of Colour Network. The POC Netowrk is one of 7 Liberation Networks at KCLSU which exist to connect communities, challenge discrimination and ensure that decisions made in our Union and University are done with inclusion and diversity in mind.
