Guy's Campus, King's College London
Overview
The Rise Festival is back!
This year for University Mental Health Day 2020 we are bringing a range of events to open up the conversation and ?? raise awareness ?? around student mental health ??. Our events will include opportunities to take a meaningful break and de-stress in between your classes, as well as learn about mental health and engage in conversations around support:
11:30am-15:30pm: ??Make Do Play ?? (Guy's)
Join The Culture Team at The Shed to take a break between classes to let your creativity run free! Their crafting table will be facilitated by their team as well as other student groups to chat about the links between creativity and mental health and the importance of taking time out. 12:00pm-1:30pm: ?? Group discussion around mental health by Thinkmental. ?? (Guy's)
While we always have the best intentions when supporting our friends, we may not always know the best way to do this. Thinkmental will be running a group discussion around ways in which we prefer to be supported by our loved ones at Guy’s campus KCLSU AR5, running alongside a whiteboard poll at our Make Do Play table.
1:30pm-3:00pm: ??Guest speaker from Beat ?? (Guy's)
We are very excited to welcome a guest talk from a Beat ambassador, the UK’s eating disorder charity. The talk will be held at Guy’s campus KCLSU AR5 and will focus on raising awareness around the signs and symptoms that people might recognise in themselves or others and where they can find support.
5:00pm-6:30pm: ?? Marbling & Journal Making ?? (Strand)
In this session you will work with liquid inks and water to make your own marbled paper. Marbling is a fun and intriguing process that will encourage you to embrace elements of randomness while gently manipulating the paint and paper in your own way. Get your ticket here: https://www.kcl.ac.uk/events/marbling-and-journal-making-workshop
6:00pm-8:00pm: ?? Film Screening ?? (Guy's)
Kaleidoscope Health and Care have partnered up with the KCLSU to produce a set of short films that explore different students’ lived experiences of mental health and support services. Join them at the
Gowland Hopkins Lecture Theatre, Hodgkin Building to learn about these student experiences and their vision of how support could be improved for students!
We hope to see you there! ?
