Overview

ThinkMental and KCL LGBT+ Society are collaborating to host a Student Stories event for LGBT+ History Month.

Student Stories is an event that allows students to share their experience of mental health and illness. In this case, those identifying as LGBT+ will take the lead. Evidence indicates that those individuals identifying as LGBT+ are at a higher risk of mental health difficulties*. The event aims to empower speakers by providing a safe place to be heard and the audience by giving a chance to hear stories that may resonate with their own. After the scheduled speakers, we will open the floor to the audience to allow students who have been inspired to have a chance to share.

If you would like to share your story at this event, please email us at [email protected] with a brief summary of the nature of your story and we will let you know all the details you'll need (such as timings etc.).

Please be aware that if you plan on attending this event, there will likely be some stories that are explicit or difficult to hear. We think that it's important to be able to share these things openly, but we advise caution if you think that you might be upset by this.

You do not need a ticket to come to this event but it is only open to students of KCL.
