Overview

The King's Duel Dinner is taking place on Thursday 26th March at Lambeth Palace. After dinner , we'll hold the re-enactment of the Duel between the Duke of Wellington and the Earl of Winchilsea over the founding of the King's College, as a College open to all without religious tests. It's the College's oldest living tradition (going back to at least the 1930s) and corrects, the often peddled slander, that King's only educated Anglican when it was founded.

Venues often describe themselves as 'historic' or 'magnificent' but Lambeth Palace is genuinely both of these. We will dine in the Guard Room which dates from 1380s with pre-dinner drinks in the State Drawing Room. King's is only allowed this privilege as the Archbishop of Canterbury is the College's 'Visitor'.

Booking closes on Friday 20th March. If you can get your home address to [email protected] on time,  you will be sent a special hand-written invitation on Duel Day stationery.

You probably won' t get the opportunity to dine here again as a student, so seize the opportunity!

Stop Press: we have a limited number of roles to cast in the re-enactment. Step forward if you're interested!
