Celebrate, Hustle and Keep Kings Real

Hello there King's Community!!

I am Sheeba Naaz, your candidate for the post of Vice President (Post-Graduate). I have flown down to Kings straight from the Foodie's heaven, New Delhi, India. I am a former journalist (sounds quite  serious and boring), a foodie, a gym rat and yes, a big time chai lover (not chai latte and chai tea)! Yes, that is the irony of my life that I love food as much as I love deadlifts and squats! This 'desi' journalist is now a proud student here at Kings pursuing second masters in terrorism, security, and society.

Let's face it guys, life as a postgraduate is intense; hustling for essay deadlines, exam schedules, keeping up with readings and navigating in the job market in the span of 11 months. So, why hustle alone! Let's get together to make the time for post-grads easier, result-oriented and more memorable.

So here are the positive changes that we must bring to Kings.

Decolonise Our Knowledge!

Education shapes perception, minds and our future. Time to challenge the Eurocentric narratives and ensure diverse voices from the Global South and Asia. Time to understand non-western perspectives and change the Eurocentric narratives that dominate our curricula and research. Kings should be a space for critical thinking, not just perpetuating the status quo! Let's decolonise academia and reclaim knowledge systems.

Festivals Matter!

Missing Diwali for an exam or Eid for an essay? Not anymore! Let us work for an inclusive study and exam schedule that respects everyone's cultural and religious holidays, from Diwali to Eid to Hanukkah. Why choose between academic success and celebrating traditions. Let's make sure everyone feels seen, heard, and valued here at KCL.

Interfaith Collaborations

We're all on this journey together, regardless of our beliefs. That is why I am passionate about creating an interfaith platform where we can come together, learn from each other, and build bridges of understanding. It is all about fostering unity and respect, one conversation at a time. Imagine interfaith potlucks, meditation sessions, and open discussions – a truly globalised experience! Wouldn't it be great to know about diverse cultures, traditions and religions along with our degrees.

Let's Get Real About Employment

Webinars and talks are cool but are they really helpful? Our favourite influencers are giving us a free of cost career advice as well.  Enough with the endless career talks! We need real career support from Kings. We will  work on connecting you with real opportunities like networking events and collaborations with big firms, tailored internship support, and career guidance that gets you hired, not just hyped. Let us ditch the generic talk and get hustling towards a dream career!

Lastly, Taking Care of Your Wallet

All of us are here to study not to stress ourselves! Peace of Mind Matters! The tight tuition fee installments plan gets hard on many students especially international students. We will push for more flexibility with tuition fee installments, we need more than two installments to deposit our fee. You deserve a payment plan that works for you, not against you.

There is something for returning students as well, a Cap on tuition fee. The burden of increased tuition should not be put on returning students. It must remain the same as their admission year fee. Your financial stability matters! Fairness for all, regardless of origin or year of study!

Once, we enroll at Kings, we are unlikely to leave our studies in between therefore students deserve flexibility with residence and tuition fee deadlines.

So, ready to make Kings more inclusive, supportive, and awesome?

Vote Sheeba Naaz! You won't just get a VP, you will get a friend, a foodie buddy, and a champion of an equitable academic space.

Spread the word, share this manifesto, and let's get real about making Kings College the best it can be! Together, we can do amazing things!
