KEMI FOR HEAD OF EVENTS

Hey, my name is Kemi Olofinjana and I’m a first year history student aspiring to be a solicitor advocate (and maybe an events manager!)

When people think of an ACS society, they think of it as one of the highlights of their uni experience. As head of events, i wish to ensure that our ACS is a community of people who not only have high aspirations but also a community of people who act as your uni family.

The reputation of KCL ACS holds weight from the quality of events that are orgasnised. I've had first hand experience inside the acs events team of this year by being a fresher's rep, so I understand how much effort is put into making these events worthwhile.  My vision looks to ensure that the next set of events builds and improves upon the previous.

What's the plan?

VIBE; when you go to motives, there’s only so much interaction. There's a good chance you might not see these people again if they’re not on your campus or you don’t have their socials. By setting up more regular social spaces where people can chill and talk, we provide a place to see people you might not see on a regular basis and meet others. This can spread beyond just 1st years, but the older years as well.

COLLAB; Putting on events with other unis is the way to go. With London unis being close to each other, we might as well use it to our advantage. A vital resource when planning events is promotion, and being able to have a strong relationship with multiple unis increases your chances of high promotion where all participants can benefit. Students can then also make new friends across a wide network. I would want to expand collaborations beyond UoL as well, as that increases turnout and diversifies events.

NETWORK; We’re in central London where there are so many programmes that cater towards the advancement of black people in the workplace. I’d want to reach out to them and maintain relationships in order to put on networking events in multiple career fields.

Such ideas can lead to sponsorship, relationships with black owned business and more importantly enjoyment & success.
