Reimbursement Now!

Welcome to the Reimbursement Now! Campaign.

We are a group of students at King’s College London (KCL) supporting and encouraging students to know their rights and claim compensation for the disruption to their studies caused by ongoing industrial action.

Although each student must still submit their own individual application form, the goal is for students to submit applications for compensation en masse. We want to send a clear message to university management that students won't stand for further disruption, and we also want to receive our rightful compensation!

There is strength in numbers! Our goal is to coordinate with one another, and to support each other as a community through the process of seeking reimbursement. The more students who apply, the greater the impact. Spread the word! Reimbursement Now!

Things you need to know:

  • You can apply for compensation due to industrial action by following this process, which King's has set up especially for this.

  • We've put together this handy guide that takes you through how to make a claim for compensation.

  • The deadline to submit your claim for disruption in Terms 1 and 2 is July 1st 2022.

  • There have been 18 days of UCU strike action at King's in 2021-22. In Term 1, these were 1st, 2nd, 3rd December 2021. In Term 2, these were Monday 14th to Friday 18th February; Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd February; Monday 28th February to Wednesday 2nd March; and Monday 28th March to Friday 1st April.

  • This compensation is potentially worth thousands of pounds depending on your tuition fee rate. That is worth the effort!

  • Students have successfully claimed compensation for industrial action before, on an individual basis. The mechanism already exists, but it is up to us to utilise it to our benefit.

  • While each student must still submit their own individual claim themselves, we want to help and support you so that you know how to do it.

  • We are a community of students who support the faculty and staff in their strike action, as well as having an interest in protecting our educational and financial investment.

  • Join our Whatsapp Chat or follow us on Facebook or Instagram to get connected to other students going through this process. You can also email our campaign team here.

Why should students support this campaign?

Industrial action has been happening for multiple years now as University management repeatedly fail to address high levels of staff dissatisfaction. Students are tired of paying the cost for university management’s lack of resolution to these problems.

Students enter into a contract with the university not just to provide us with a degree, but for the instruction that makes that degree valid. We don’t just want a piece of paper; we want a proper education! If the university does not deliver the instruction promised, the university management should refund us the money for services not rendered.
