In a previous Officers Update, our President Ahad had mentioned that there was a possibility for a new timetable for examinations to be piloted for January exams. For reference, this is the new proposed system:
King's Timetabling wants to trial a third exam slot for the January 2019 exams so fewer people have two exams in one day (they expect this to go from 11% of students to 4% of students). They have guaranteed no student would have 3 exams in one day. The proposed changes are as follows:
Monday |
2 x 3 Hour Slots |
Tuesday |
3 x 2 Hour Slots |
Wednesday |
2 x 3 Hour Slots |
Thursday |
3 x 2 Hour Slots |
Friday |
2 x 3 Hour Slots |
- Current System: Exam A 10:00-13:00 / Exam B 14:30-17:30 (2 slot day)
- New System: Exam A 9:00-11:00 / Exam B 12:15-14:15 / Exam C 15:30-17:30 (3 slot day)
This would mean that on Tuesday and Thursday during the January exam period the exams will start earlier. (The other 3 days would stay with the current format).
From that, we created a quick questionnaire to see what your thoughts and opinions were. From the responses, we found that it was very divisive and believed that this new exam timetabling pilot should not go ahead. We would, however, like to open up the discussion further and is something myself and the other Education Officers will look into.
