Student Volunteering Week

people volunteering cleaning up

9th-13th February 2026

Student Volunteering Week is back!

This is your chance to get stuck in, try something new, and make a difference, all while meeting people and having fun.

Over the week, student groups will be running all sorts of activities and projects on campus and in the community. You could be helping out with a creative project, learning a new skill, or raising awareness for a cause you care about. The full line-up will be announced closer to the time, once groups have applied for funding, so keep an eye out!

Volunteering isn’t just about giving back, it’s a great way to make friends, build confidence, and pick up skills that look amazing on your CV. In fact, over half of recent graduates under 30 say their volunteering experience has helped them get a job.

Run your own event, apply for the Student Volunteering Week Fund

Got an idea for an event or workshop? We’d love to support you!

The Student Volunteering Week Fund offers up to £100 to help KCLSU student groups put on activities during the week. Whether you want to raise awareness, get more people involved in your society, or try out something creative in the community, this is your chance to make it happen.

Who can apply?

  • Applications must come from a KCLSU-affiliated student group (not individuals)

  • Events need to take place during 9–13 February 2026

  • Groups should show they can plan and run the activity

What we’re looking for:

  • Fun, inclusive, and engaging activities

  • Events that encourage more students to volunteer or support a cause

  • Projects that connect students with the community

Deadline to apply: 1 December 2025
Late applications won’t be accepted

After the event, we’ll just ask for a quick spending record and a short reflection to show the impact you made.

Need ideas?

Here are some things groups have done in past years:

  • Making cards for the homeless, then heading out for evening outreach

  • Hosting a bake sale to raise money for local charities

  • Craft workshops for children in hospitals

  • CPR awareness and training sessions on campus

But don’t feel limited, if you’ve got a new idea, we’d love to see it!

If you’d like to run an event or have an idea for Student Volunteering Week but don’t require funding, we’d still love to hear from you. Please get in touch by emailing volunteering@kclsu.org to discuss how we can support your plans.
