If you are fundraising for a charity obtain your Charity Authorisation letter. Submit a fundraising request 10 days in advance. Please note that incoming 2026/27 community leaders will submit the fundraising request through the Activity Dashboard. Submit a high-risk risk assessment through the Activities Dashboard detailing how you will practice good food hygiene and ensure people with allergens are kept safe.
Only homemade products can be sold at bake sales. At KCL University venues, you are not permitted to sell hot beverages, bottled water, cans of soft drinks or meat and hot food products. Familiarise any volunteer bakers with food hygiene practice.
Book your venue with either KCLSU via [email protected] or KCL [email protected]. If your event is in an activity room your committee members can book the space via Skedda.
Put thought into your presentation using table cloths, nice dishware and food labels.
Consider a strategic pricing strategy, for example £1 for 1 cookie or £2.50 for 3 cookies to drive up sales.
Have options available – vegan products? Gluten free? Make sure that these items are prepared separately and packaged carefully.
Thought about having a theme? This could be based on your student group, holidays or something silly.
Advertise your bake sale through social media, printed posters or a shout out after your seminar.
