What are the candidate briefings?

  • Candidate briefings help candidates understand KCLSU Elections and the mandatory rules.  We will go through;
    • the role of being a trustee of KCLSU,
    • campaigning and campaign parameters,
    • election principles,
    • the complaints procedure,
    • resources, and wellbeing.
  • Candidate briefings are mandatory to attend for Student Officers, Student Trustee candidates, and media groups participating in election promotion. There will be optional briefings for student groups.

When are the candidate briefings?

  • The candidate briefings are between 19 – 21 February
    • They will be in-person and mandatory for Student Officer & Student Trustee candidates.
    • There will be optional candidate briefings for student groups.

What do I have to do for the Instagram reel?

  • Instagram reels are offered to Student Officer & Student Trustee candidates. Reels last a maximum of 90 seconds, and all candidates will be asked the same questions. They will be filmed by ROAR and uploaded to their Instagram.
  • Reels are really valuable to gain exposure for your campaign. Filming a reel with ROAR is not mandatory, but please bear in mind that this means you miss out on a platform for promoting yourself. It is not possible to film and edit your own reel if you want it to be published by ROAR. However, it will be possible to do your promotion in a written format.

What are the candidate pictures?

  • Student Officer and Student Trustee candidates must have their candidate picture taken. KCLSU hires a professional photographer to do this. Candidates in these elections will have received more information.
