Join students from five other Students’ Unions in this jointly supported event to hear the story of William Dorsey Swann, an African American man born into slavery who became the world's first self-described "drag queen", as told by the award-winning journalist and author of the forthcoming “House of Swann: Where Slaves Became Queens – and Changed the World” who discovered his story, Channing Gerard Joseph (he/him or she/her).
This session will be a talk led by Channing with the chance to ask questions at the end.
Places are limited due to the fact this is a cross-SU event, so make sure to book soon! We will email the Teams link to those who've signed up for a free ticket closer to the date of the event.
Other SUs involved in the collaboration are Aston SU, Liverpool Hope SU, Arts University Bournemouth SU, and University of Bournemouth SU, and the event is hosted by Liverpool Guild of Students.
