Fundraising

From film screenings to FIFA tournaments, there’s loads of ways to raise money for the causes you care about.

You can either fundraise for a UK-registered charity or to make money for your student group. You can check that the charity you are fundraising for has a registered UK Charity Number and is listed on the Charity Commission Website. For full information please refer to our Fundraising Policy. We have the following procedures in place as KCLSU is a UK-registered charity therefore we and our students are required to follow legislation.

Students must belong to a ratified student group to fundraise, if you do not belong to a student group get in touch with [email protected] and we can help you with the next steps.

Planning a Fundraiser

If you want to host a fundraiser you must submit a fundraising request 10 days in advance. We encourage groups to do these as soon as you are interested in putting on a fundraiser in case there are multiple deadlines to meet, for example if your fundraiser involves an external speaker which takes up to 15 working days to be approved. Please note that incoming 2026/27 community leaders will submit the fundraising request through the Activity Dashboard.

If you are fundraising for a charity ask them to provide you with a Charity Authorisation letter which you will submit in your application. This letter must be on a charity letterheaded page, include their name and logo, registration number, bank details and the name of the student group and fundraising dates. You may ask the charity to provide you with a letter for the full academic year.
