I Saw the TV Glow (2024), directed by Jane Schoenbrun, is a surreal coming-of-age horror drama that uses the lens of television and nostalgia to explore identity, repression, and transformation. Schoenbrun, a trans filmmaker, uses the story as an allegory for dysphoria and the disorienting process of realising one’s gender identity.
