Officer Statement of Support for Students following Attacks in Edinburgh

We are deeply saddened and concerned by the attacks that took place in Edinburgh on Friday, which police are investigating as acts motivated by anti-Muslim hatred.

Our thoughts are with those who were injured, their loved ones, and the wider Muslim communities affected by these events.

We recognise that incidents of this nature can have a profound impact beyond those directly affected. Many Muslim students may feel distressed, anxious, angry, or unsafe following reports of targeted violence and hate. We want to acknowledge those feelings and affirm that hatred of any kind has no place in our community , our university, or our Students' Union.

As representatives of all KCLSU members, we stand in solidarity with our Muslim students and with all those affected by these attacks.

We wanted to make you aware of the support that is available through King’s and KCLSU:

If you can, take a moment to check in on friends or peers who might be affected.

As your elected Student Officer Team, we are also here to listen and support students who would like to speak with us.

With care and solidarity,

Dulcie, Fatima, Maryam, Baiyu, Hasnain and Sheeba.
