Updated 22 May

KCLSU at Strand is closed until Tuesday 23 May 2017 due to a fire in the basement of Macadam Building. The fire started early in the afternoon of Thursday 18 May and led to the evacuation of students and staff. It was quickly contained and everyone is safe, however the building is now being throughly cleaned and investigators are assessing the cause.

The closure affects all Union spaces in the Macadam Building, including our Student Centre, Waterfront Bar and Kitchen, Lobby and all other Union spaces at Strand. Please use our Student Centres at Guy's and Waterloo campuses until further notice. However, the Philosophy Bar and King;s Shop remain open. To get an update on College spaces in Macadam, go here.

If you left a personal item in Waterfront, please contact [email protected] with a description.

If you had materials in the building for an assessment or think this might affect your preparations for an assessment, please contact KCLSU Advice. Our caseworkers are still available to provide exam support if you are a Strand based student. All other campuses remain unaffected.

Activity groups, sports clubs and societies will be contacted separately about any items stored in the basement.
