A British Weightlifting Officially Licensed Club
We are open to all KCL sports clubs to help improve performance in your sport by improving physical conditioning. Also, open for anyone who wants to give Olympic weightlifting and general strength training a go!
We offer sessions for beginner, intermediate and experienced lifters alike run by a British Weightlifting qualified and assistant coaches. Everyone will get the chance to improve technique, strength and speed.
BEGINNERS - learn the squat, pull, overhead press, clean & jerk and snatch. Develop strength and speed and reach your personal fitness goals. Olympic weightlifting is a fun way to get fit, lose weight or build muscle. Our club attitude is not about winning medals, but about achieving something you couldn't have done a year ago.
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED - Everyone has things to improve and this club aims to provide the tools for all levels of lifters to do just that. The club's coach is British weightlifting qualified and will help you work on specific areas for improvement. The club trains hard towards the British student championships and other competitions throughout the year; competing is crucial to developing confidence in your lifts and learning to tackle the pressures of competitive lifting and competitions are always a fun day.
Testimonial from a former member, Katrine Marie. A lifter who joined us in 2016 with no Olympic lifting experience and competed with us in the national student championships later that academic year. 'I fell in love with the lifting team right from the start. I found a group of like-minded people. The atmosphere in the gym is like no other, and I feel like the team has grown to become a family more than just a team! I'll miss the heck out of the KCL team but will be sure to come visit when I come back to England'
