King's Economics & Finance Society
We are the largest, most distinguished economics and finance dedicated society at King's College London. We pride ourselves on our commitment to actively facilitating the inclusion of all students in the finance industry, regardless of background. Adherence to our values are the driving force of EFS and our activities on campus resonate such - we believe in equal opportunity, integrity and procuring a strong sense of community within King's.
Since our establishment in 2006, our members have consistently been provided with the tools, assistance and experience necessary to broaden their career perspectives and enhance their educational experiences. A diverse range of speakers, networking events and professionally-led workshops are among the core opportunities our society is proud to offer.
Our core events can be divided into three main strands:
1. Career Support - Designed to help students achieve their career goals and gain insight into the industry. In the past these events have included: CV Workshops, Video Interview Workshops, Networking Sessions, and series of events relating to commercial awareness.
2. Debate and Critical Thought - These events offer opportunities for students to listen and learn from industry-leaders on complex, critical, and pertinent topics within the realm of Economics and Finance; these are designed with the intention of provoking thought and participation from students. In the past year, we have hosted intriguing events such as: 'The Myth of Private Equity', 'Rising Global Inequality', and 'Thoughts on the Bear Market' from speakers including Ex-CIO of Morgan Stanley, Ex-Deputy Director of the IMF, and Members of UK Parliament.
3. Diversity and Inclusion - Events tailored to those who feel underrepresented in the industry or have had a lack of exposure to information and opportunities in the world of Finance. In 2020/2021 we hosted a variety of such events including: 'Women in Entrepreneurship', 'LGBT+ in Consulting', 'Life as a Female Consultant at a Big 4 Firm' as well as a Student Mental Health Fundraiser with universities across the nation.
