Outdoor places to visit in London

As the cold days of winter finally start to dissipate and we start to have a glimpse of summer, I wanted to share some great outdoor places around London to visit and take a well-deserved break.

Walk around some parks

While greenery is often lacking in London, there are numerous beautiful parks that can help to get some fresh air. Hyde Park is a very big park that’s pretty central, where you can walk around, run, cycle, or even row a boat! To the North of London, I recommend Regent’s park, where you can admire beautiful gardens or hire a tennis court with your friend. Finally, South of the Thames you will find Richmond Park, where you can find hundreds of free-roaming deer!

You can find a list and description of all the London parks on the Royal Parks website, which you can access by clicking here.

Go eat at some outdoor street food markets

There are many great street food places all over London, and some of them are really worth travelling to. Camden Market offers some great food surrounded by vintage shops, street art, and performers. Brick Lane is also great for this atmosphere, with many underground art and record stores. You can find a guide to all the different things to explore in Brick Lane by clicking here.

For proper food markets, head towards Borough Market. Mercato Mayfair is also great, and the food stalls are all inside a big church!

Hidden gems

Cycling around London using the Santander bikes that are available all around can be a great way to discover some unique places. Chinatown is a great place to start, for example. You should also walk around Noting Hill, or visit the flower market on Columbia Road.

One of the things that makes London so great is its cultural diversity. Whether you want to visit historical, landmark sites, shop around Oxford Street, or discover the less well-known places around London, you won’t run out of places to visit! As the weather gets better and Covid starts to feel more like a memory than reality, take the time to fully experience this beautiful city.
