LOVE ACTUALLY

Starting this top picks list off right with Richard Curtis’ Christmas classic Love Actually. Starring the likes of Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley and Emma Thompson, this London based rom-com follows the lives and loves of eight very different couples as their stories interlink in the run up to Christmas.

 

For the one who loves a cheesy teen movie…

LET IT SNOW

Based on the bestselling book by John Green (yes, that John Green!), Let It Snow tells the tale of a group of high school students who find themselves at odds with a snowstorm on Christmas Eve. A tale of multiple whirlwind romances, a stranded pop star, a stolen beer keg, and a squad of competitive dancers finding themselves at the local Waffle Town … can you already smell the Christmas cheese?

 

For the one who lives for Christmas desserts…

SUGAR RUSH CHRISTMAS

Sugar Rush Christmas is, simply put, Bake-Off on steroid-infused mince pies. The competitive baking show now has a whole season dedicated to all things merry and bright! Four professional teams of two baker compete in a baking competition for a prize of $10,000. Their mouth-watering creations are as visually stunning as they are tasty and will certainly make you crave heading off to the shops to buy some much needed sweet treats!

 

For the lovers of a so-bad-it’s-good Rom Com…

THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Starring Vanessa Hudgens, this painfully cheesy movie tells the tale of a woman who has lost all hope of finding love… just when she thinks she’ll never get a ‘Happily Ever After’, she accidentally hits a knight summoned from the 14th Century with her car (yes, you read right). Believing that he’s suffering from amnesia from the blow, she decides to take care of him until he gets his memory back. Little does she know that this is the knight in shining armour that she's been waiting for all her life…

THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS

After the success of Oliver Twist, Charles Dickens has been rejected by his publishers due to the failure of his last three books. Struggling financially, Dickens sets out to write a new book – and to publish it himself! He begins writing A Christmas Carol, only six weeks before Christmas. With the looming deadline and the arrival of his estranged father, Dickens is forced to confront his own insecurities through the character of Ebenezer Scrooge.

These wholesome episodes go beyond the sit-com trope of Christmas Specials and really warm your heart on a cold winter’s day. So why not watch all of them in one go?

There is always that one person who claims that getting into the holiday spirit is not for them! Well, we believe we’ve found the antidote to that thanks to none other than BoJack Horseman.
