KCLSU has been officially announced as the first London Students’ Union to be confirmed as a Very Good Union!
Our Student’s Union recently gained the Quality Students’ Union accreditation, showing the quality of how we work together for all King’s students. This involved a year of gathering evidence and an external audit including interviews with students, Student Officers, KCLSU staff and staff at the University. There are 12 categories Unions are assessed on, and KCLSU scored ‘Excellent’ or ‘Very Good’ in 11 of these categories, and ‘Good’ in the other (Services). The report says:
“There was a very strong sense of recognition and pride in what the Union had achieved in recent years amongst many students. There was a clear response that students felt that KCLSU is ‘their’ Union. KCLSU is a Very Good students’ union and is clearly on a journey to deliver even more impact to its membership. The Union is clearly very well lead, managed and governed and has an excellent understanding of where it is and where it is going. The Union delivers many very good activities and services for its members and is proving to be a leader in the sector in engaging previously unengaged members.
Our Vice President for Education (Health) Jack Haywood, who led on the project, says:
“This accreditation is fantastic news for KCLSU and all the students we represent. As Student Officers, we are pleased to hear that students feel KCLSU is going in the right direction. Into the future, we will be working on the few areas we can still improve on including ensuring our Union is inclusive for all and the development of our new spaces. We hope that students will continue to see the Union’s improvements and enjoy using our services! A huge thank you to all of the students who were involved with the accreditation process, and to all of the KCLSU staff who allowed us to achieve this fantastic milestone.”
