Academic judgement is defined by the OIA as “a judgment that is made about a matter where the opinion of an academic expert is essential. So for example a judgment about marks awarded, degree classification, research methodology, whether feedback is correct or adequate, and the content or outcomes of a course will normally involve academic judgment”
Under academic judgement (which would not be successful) students may disagree with their examiner’s comments, they could be used to getting higher marks and think they deserved a better mark, they may have got a review by someone who said they deserve a better mark etc. None of these appeals would be successful as they do not meet the grounds.
If any of the above applies to you, we would not recommend you submitting an appeal as it is likely to be rejected. However, you are in control of your own decisions and can chose to follow our advice or not.
