Welcome to GKT Netball, London’s only premier-tier university netball club.
The best netball club at King’s College London!
With 6 competitive teams and a thriving recreational squad, we welcome players of every ability.

What can we offer you?
1s - KCL's First and Only Premier Tier Performance Squad
Our 1s team is the only Women’s Premier Tier squad at King’s College London and the only squad from a medics background in the country to compete in the Premier Tier of BUCS National Sport, where we rank among the top universities in the UK. Players on our 1st team benefit from professional strength and conditioning, amazing facilities, physiotherapy, nutrition and coached training every Thursday in addition to the standard BUCS fixtures on Wednesdays.
Competitive Teams
Our 2s–6s teams compete at high levels in both the BUCS and LUSL leagues, with matches on Monday evenings (LUSL) and Wednesday afternoons (BUCS). We train together on Thursday evenings and run student-led fitness sessions throughout the week. Every training is led by experienced, qualified coaches, and our 1s and 2s matches are officiated by Premier and A-award-qualified umpires.
Our competitive teams take their netball seriously, but never at the expense of our core values - first and foremost, we are here to have fun. We pride ourselves on balancing performance with positivity, bringing energy and good vibes to every session.
Recreational
Our recreational group plays netball every week and is the largest recs squad of any GKT sports club at King’s College London. Recs membership also includes an annual Beactive membership, giving you access not only to our weekly rec sessions but to the full Beactive timetable of over 50 classes and activities each week. For more information about the Beactive programme and to start booking sessions, please visit https://www.kcl.ac.uk/sport/clubs/beactive.

26-27 Season Trials
Trials will be held over Freshers’ Week weekend, on 26th and 27th September. In the lead-up, we’ll also run pre-season sessions every Thursday throughout September. Keep an eye on our Instagram (@kingsnetball_gkt) for trial and pre-season updates, and feel free to sign up to our mailing list via the link in our bio.
If you’re a performance athlete or have played at a high level (club, county, or premier), please reach out via our GKTNC Prem Expression of Interest form (linked in here). We’ll be in touch to arrange separate indoor trials for the 1s and 2s during pre-season. If you can’t make the pre-season Thursdays in September, don’t worry - it won’t affect your chances of selection, though we’d strongly encourage you to attend if you can.

Why join GKT Netball?
If you’re looking for competitive netball: our GKT 1st team is the official King's College London 1st netball team in BUCS. Our 1s have consistently outperformed KCL Netball 1s, winning Varsity every year since 2019 and retaining the Macadam title in 2026 with an impressive 21-goal lead. With 5 competitive teams below the 1s, there’s plenty of opportunity to earn a place and play competitive netball twice a week.
Our 1st team holds one of the most impressive records in GKT sporting history. As a King’s Sport Performance Team, they recently won a competitive BUCS Division 1A league and the Premier Tier play-offs, earning promotion to the Premier Tier for the 2026–2027 season, now the only Premier University team in London. They were also BUCS and LUSL Cup champions in 2018/19, and won the United Hospitals Tournament in 2026.
I
Our Amazing Recreational Squad
If you’re looking for social netball: we have the largest recreational squad at KCL, and we welcome players of all abilities. Recs is the perfect way to play netball weekly with low commitment - our 7s Recs team competes in the LUSL league, with places offered on a weekly opt-in basis.
Socials & Tours
There’s no shortage of socials to enjoy - from our legendary Wednesday nights at Guy’s Bar (fancy dress required) to year-round events including Freshers’ Tour (November 2026), Christmas Dinner, our end-of-season AGM, the Netball–Rugby Tour, and much more.
Umpiring and Coaching Qualification Opportunities
If you're interested in earning a bit of pocket money while at university and have a keen netball eye, our committee offers coaching and umpiring qualification mentorship. Our pathways will guide you towards qualification, where you can really kickstart your netball journey, separate from playing, and give back to the club and community. Please reach out to Grace (26-27 President) for more information.

What's the difference between GKT and KCL netball?
GKT (Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’) reflects the medical heritage at King’s, but we welcome players from every degree programme. We are the larger of the two clubs and have beaten KCL Netball at the Macadam Cup in 9 of the last 10 years. In Mini-Macadam 2026 - the annual tournament between KCL and GKT teams - every one of our other competitive teams (2s–7s) finished unbeaten. We also offer a much larger recreational squad and regular indoor training sessions led by qualified, experienced coaches across all competitive teams.
We can’t wait to meet our new players for the 2025/26 season, and have you join the best netball club in the world <3
