I have managed to grow some flowers during lockdown! I am most proud of my Sunflowers. I also deliver a workout class most days for my friends and their family.

Does a puppy count? If not it would have to be a cutting tool so I can make fun things out of wood etc.

If you were stranded on a desert island what one item would you choose to bring with you?

Can I bring a puppy??

Which 3 people would you invite to your fantasy dinner?

I’m thinking a Michelin star chef would be a good place to start, so I’ll go for Heston Blumenthal as our cook (not sure I’m playing the game properly…) Deborah Frances-White would be second, she’s the host of the Guilty Feminist podcast and is both intelligent and hilarious. Finally, I’d have to say Andy Murray as one of my favourite athletes (not to mention a great feminist ally for women in sport, so you can see where the conversation is going!)

ISABEL - ACTIVITIES ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

What can students come to you for?

Alex T and I share the role of Activities Engagement Coordinator to offer as much support as possible to our 300+ student groups! When I was a student at King’s, I was part of SPLAS Society, Yoga & Pilates Society and also Social Secretary for The Northern Society which was sadly short lived.

What new skill or hobby have you (at least tried to) acquire during lockdown?

During lockdown I have been trying all types of activities to improve my wellbeing and be more mindful. In terms of new things, I have started regularly running as substitute for the spin classes I usually go to and have discovered a new found love for 1000 piece puzzles. My new goal is to be more creative and do some art journaling on weekends.

I would invite Florence Given to have some meaningful chats about female power and personal growth over dinner. I would also bring the no1 financial hype woman, Berna (@heyberna), to teach us how to crush our finance goals and have a great time doing it. The final guest would have to be Lizzo because who wouldn’t want a dinner party with a flute playing queen?

What student groups were you part of at university?

During my undergrad I was a base in cheerleading and helped my team take bronze at the national university competition. When I came to King’s for my postgrad an injury meant that I wasn’t able to take part in a sport so I join KingsTV so I could cover it instead it was great to still be involved in sport in this way and we took home best Sports Coverage at the National Student Television Awards for our work!

What new skill or hobby have you (at least tried to) acquire during lockdown?

I am learning how to code whilst in lockdown which is going well – I’ll never be an expert but feel like I have a good foundation.

If you were stranded on a desert island what one item would you choose to bring with you?

A pack of vegetable seeds – I’m a pretty savvy gardener so would build a big vegetable garden to keep me fed and busy.

Which 3 people would you invite to your fantasy dinner?

My first guest would have to be the man the myth the legend that is William Shakespeare, I’m a big Shakespeare nerd (my MA was in Shakespeare Studies) so I would have an unending list questions for him. Next up be Greta Gerwig, her films are stunning and her work ethic is really inspiring. A lot of people could grab the last spot but I think I would have to go for Boudica, she’d definitely have some stories to tell!
