KCL Bhangra Society
Bhangra is a vibrant and energetic folk dance originating from the Punjab region of North India. At KCL Bhangra, we aim to share this incredible art form with students of all backgrounds, whether you are a complete beginner or have previous dance experience.
Our weekly classes are open to everyone and are completely free of charge. They are a great way to learn Bhangra, improve your dancing, stay active, and meet a welcoming community of students.
Since being awarded KCLSU’s Best New Activity Group in 2015, KCL Bhangra has continued to grow and perform at a variety of events, including university showcases, cultural celebrations such as the KCL Charity Jhalak Diwali Show, and external events. This year we have performed at major events including international showcases, with members travelling to Denmark for a performance, and appearances at high-profile events such as the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone.
Our competitive team has achieved success at The Bhangra Showdown, one of the world’s largest university Bhangra competitions, with podium finishes in 2017, 2018 and 2020, and championship titles in 2019 and 2023.
Whether you want to dance casually, perform at events, compete, or try something completely new, KCL Bhangra welcomes everyone. Follow our social media pages for updates on classes, auditions, performances, and events. We can’t wait to see you!
