Hi all! Welcome to Kings College's Art Society, a society responsible for everything related to visual arts, aiming to indulge it's members in the arts - whether that be fine art, sound, performance art, fashion, visual arts - as much as possible.
In our society, we welcome all levels from beginner to advanced. There will be events that do not require any artistic ability at all as well as tutored sessions to help you develop your skills but also very art-based events for those looking to go into into the industry after King's!
If you join the society you can be sure to not miss out! Within the past years, we have held many workshops on life drawings, sketching and painting. We invite members to experiment with different new mediums such as clay, paint, digital, collage and also run lectures, screenings, museum visits and multiple socials.
This year we will host practical workshops and everything aforementioned for our members but aim to do more. We will also hold workshops or talks/Q&A's with artists and individuals working in the art industry and a few theoretical based talks discussing the industry, art history, art based texts such as John Berger's Ways of Seeing or really digging into the intrinsic meaning of art.
Talks with industry professionals will be invaluable for those interested in or considering pursuing a career in the arts. We will also hold two exhibitions per semester, accepting any creative work which follows the theme of the exhibition, this can be paintings, poetry, soundscapes, photography, film, garments or anything of your desire and will be a great way to showcase your own creativity.
All work created by members will be used as visuals for our posts and you will be credited!
Our sessions usually take place every TUESDAY and THURSDAY at 6:30pm in the Activity Rooms - South East wing of Bush House. We will post all upcoming events on our Instagram so keep an eye out!
For a price of £5, you wouldn't want to miss out!
