Rewards and Recognition for our Volunteers!

Rewards and Recognition are an important part of the volunteering experience, designed to celebrate the time, effort, and impact volunteers contribute to their projects.

Our framework recognises both individual and team contributions towards volunteering through a variety of formats to help motivate our students to volunteer and appreciate all of their hard work and commitment.

Below are the Rewards and Recognition offered to student volunteers at KCLSU:

1. Monthly Awards

We want to hear about all of your amazing achievements! You can nominate a Group, Project, or Volunteer who you think has done or achieved something amazing, or gone above and beyond for KCLSU's Monthly Awards.​

Winners will receive either £50 into Student Activity Group, or a £10 voucher! You will also be spotlighted on our Website and Instagram!

There are three different categories:  

  • Group of the Month (Club, Society, Network)  
  • Project of the Month (Volunteering, Event, Student Media, Campaign)  
  • Volunteer of the Month (Individuals)  

Monthly Awards run between September - May every year!

2. KCLSU Awards

KCLSU Awards is a major part of the King’s College London calendar and is there to recognise the commitment and excellence of King’s College London Students beyond their academic career. Those who win KCLSU Awards will have the Award added to their HEAR.

By running a Student-Led Volunteering project, Widening Participation Project, Fundraising Initiative of Wellbeing Project, you may be eligible for:

  • Community Impact Project of the Year Award
  • Haris Ahmed Volunteer of the Year Award 

By logging your hours, and receiving a Volunteering Certificate at the end of the year, you will also get early access to purchase tickets for our sell-out KCLSU Award Ceremony in May!

3. Blogposts and Spotlights

Volunteering Blogposts and Spotlights are created to celebrate and share the stories of our volunteers who have made a meaningful impact.

They highlight project achievements, inspiring contributions and amazing impact of our Student-Led Volunteering Projects.

Being featured on our Website and Instagram is one way we recognise and thank volunteers for their dedication, creativity, and leadership. It’s also a chance to inspire others, build community, and showcase the difference students are making through their projects.

4. Volunteer Showcase

The Volunteering Showcase is a special part of the Volunteering calender, designed to spotlight and celebrate the amazing work of student volunteers across KCLSU. As part of our Awards event series, this evening brings together volunteers to be recognised for their dedication and impact!

The event is a chance for students to share what their amazing volunteering projects have achieved through short presentations, connect with other volunteers, and reflect on their contributions throughout the year.

It’s also a fun and social evening, with games, music, and refreshments to enjoy. Whether you're presenting or attending, the Volunteer Showcase is all about celebrating student-led change and the vibrant volunteering community at King’s!

5. Logging Hours and Volunteering Certificates

Logging your volunteering hours helps you to reflect on your time and impact as a volunteer, while also allowing us to recognise and celebrate your contributions.

Logged hours count towards our Volunteering Awards where you can earn a personalised certificate, and access exclusive perks, such as early access to purchase tickets for our sell-out KCLSU Awards Ceremony in May!

Criteria for receiving a Volunteering Award is:

  • Bronze Award: 25 Hours
  • Silver Award: 50 Hours
  • Gold Award: 100 Hours
  • Platinum Award: 150 Hours

 

6. Accreditation Scheme

The KCLSU Accreditation Scheme is designed to recognise the hard work and achievements of our student groups. As part of this scheme, you can earn Gold, Silver, or Bronze Accreditation based on your group's success throughout the year. Participating in the scheme helps raise your group's profile, attract new members, and celebrate your collective efforts.

Delivering a Volunteering or Widening Participation Project, or Fundraising Initiatives are all criteria for being a Gold Accredited Group!
