Knitathon Volunteers

Student Volunteering Week

Volunteer as a Knitathon Helper at KCLSU’s Student Volunteering Week this February. It’s a great way to meet new people, support your fellow students, and get involved in a fun, creative event for charity.

Our Knitathon is taking place on Tuesday 11 February, 12:00 to 15:00, with additional time for setup and pack away. The event is a chance for students to try knitting and crocheting, meet other students, and create simple projects while raising funds and awareness for charity. We’re looking for students who know how to knit or crochet and can help participants get started and enjoy the session. You don’t need to know every project. Knowing one or more of the following is enough:

  • Hats

  • Scarves

  • Toys

  • Blanket squares

  • Hearts

You will

  • Help participants set up and guide them through knitting or crocheting projects

  • Offer basic tips and support to participants, including troubleshooting common issues

  • Ensure the session runs smoothly and participants feel welcome and confident

  • Help create a friendly, positive atmosphere during the event

  • Assist with setting up before and tidying up after the session

The shift lasts approximately 3.5 hours, including setup and pack away, and you will be joined by 1 to 2 other volunteers. No expert-level skill is needed, just the ability to help others and enjoy the craft.

As a thank you for your time, you will receive

  • £15 One4All voucher

  • Your shift can count towards your volunteer hours and you will be eligible for a volunteer certificate once you complete the required number of hours

  • You can also contact us for a personal reference to include on your CV
