You don’t need us to tell you how vibrant and culturally rich London is, boasting an array of art galleries and museums. We all know being a student means living life on a budget, but you don’t have to break the bank to dive into London’s amazing art scene. There are heaps of fantastic galleries across the city offering free admission. Taking a trip to a gallery is a great way to celebrate One World: Arts and Cultural Festival currently taking place at KCLSU.

Trafalgar Square, London. WC2N 5DN 

Picture this – strolling through Trafalgar Square and stepping into a treasure trove of paintings by famous artists from all over the world. Van Gogh, da Vinci, Monet – they're all here!

Want a taste of the contemporary art world? Head to the Tate Modern on Southbank. You’ll see mind-blowing installations and funky sculptures that really make you think. Bonus: they have a cafe with a great viewing platform across the river and central London!

This spot’s all about shaking things up with it’s cutting edge contemporary art. Prepare to be wowed by new artists pushing boundaries and showing off their unique work. 

Kensington Gardens, London W2 3XA  

Two galleries nestled into Kensington Gardens? Yep! They’re like the cool kids of the art world. Constantly changing exhibitions, mind-boggling installations, and live performances – they've got it all!

 

Hertford House, Manchester Square, London W1U 3BN

Ever wanted to feel like you’re in a period drama? Step into the Wallace Collection’s townhouse in Marylebone. You’ll be surrounded by exquisite paintings, fancy furniture and armor that’s straight out of a knight’s dream. 

Whitechapel Gallery, 77-82 Whitechapel High St, E1 7QX 

Nestled in the vibrant East End, this gallery is a hub for contemporary art lovers. With it’s innovative exhibitions, thought-proboking installations, and a dedication to showcasing emerging talents alongside established artists, the Whitechapel Gallery offers an eclectic mix of art that’s always pushing boundaries. Entrance is free, but you may have to pay a fee to visit some of the exhibitions.
