Overview

“Vengeance is walking Salem. We are what we always were in Salem, but now the little crazy children are jangling the keys of the kingdom.” A group of girls dance by moonlight. An unfathomable sickness grips them as the town is seized by paranoia. Let the witch hunt begin. Salem, Massachusetts, is thrown into the throes of mass persecution as the Witch Trials begin. Friendships, marriages, and families break down as suspicion floods in. Voices of the marginalised and oppressed surge against the privileged as uncertainty mounts and simmering fictions inflame the community. In this modernised, political telling of Arthur Miller’s classic tale, John Proctor prepares for a fight against the corrupt court of Salem, his lover’s vengeful jealousies, and a society all too willing to pull the trigger.
