Volunteer English or Maths Tutor

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

As part of Team Up's leadership programme, you will volunteer as an English or Maths tutor to a small group of pupils. The pupils we work with are capable of doing well at school but are currently under performing – they also are typically drawn from low-income backgrounds. You will inspire, motivate and support them in their learning so that they get back on track, and achieve their potential. Team Up run three ten week volunteering programmes per year. The dates of our upcoming programmes are as follows: Summer programme 2017: April - July, apply by 14th April Autumn Programme 2017: September - December, apply by early September Spring programme 2017: January-March, apply by mid December

The projects take place on site in the schools in which volunteers choose to tutor in. We will have around 20 locations across London next term.

Prior training required

Skills needed • Enthusiasm for your subject and good communication skills: you can bring the subject to life for your pupils • Excellent organisation, punctuality and time management skills: you are organised, well planned and on time • Leadership: you can engage your pupils in the programme's goals Experiences • Tutoring experience is desirable, but not required! • Strong academic grades (A's and B's), or equivalent qualification, in subjects relevant to the one you would like to tutor

Training available

? A full day of training at our Tutor Induction Day. This session includes training on how to use our lesson plans and resources, how to build good relationships with pupils and how to deliver a tuition session. ? A placement induction, where tutors get to know the facilities at their school and receive training on the group of pupils they will work with. ? Online safeguarding training and certification via Educare ? Ongoing feedback and support delivered by onsite programme managers.
