Retail Volunteer

St Joseph’s fundraising team are looking for retail volunteers to help us raise a significant amount from donated items, at our pop up shop and four-yearly community sales. There are a variety of shifts available, during the week and on Saturdays, and will include helping to display stock, provide excellent customer service and act as an ambassador for St Joseph’s Hospice on the high street and at the hospice. Key tasks:  Provide excellent customer service to everyone who visits the shop or community sales  Take payments and give change to customers  Sort, prepare and price good quality donations for re-sale  Assist with merchandising and displays  Assist with keeping the shop tidy and clean Within this role, we have three specialisms. Where possible we will assign you tasks based on your expertise and preference, but we do ask that all volunteers are a key part of the team, supporting on all tasks as required. Creative  Displaying items in attractive and creative ways  Creating seasonal displays to attract customers  Dressing mannequins or similar  Taking photographs so the items can be highlighted online Sales  Helping customers to find items they may wish to purchase  Suggesting other items - making suggestions of what items may go well with their selections  Encouraging purchases of other items such as St Joseph’s merchandise  Encouraging customers to take information on other ways of supporting the hospice Sorting and pricing  Accepting donations from supporters  Sorting items quickly, removing rubbish and rag  Selecting high-quality items to be put to one side for specialist selling  Pricing items appropriately  Rotating stock, and deciding when to lower prices High-quality selection and sales  Identifying high-quality items (such as designer brands, vintage or rare items)  Researching potential prices for these items  Taking photographs so items can be highlighted online  Creating listings to sell high-quality items online  Liaising with online customers and answering queries about items Time requirement: 1- 4 days a week Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm. We can be flexible, and offer half day as well as full day shifts.
