The history of London Varsity

In 2004 Varsity began with King's Rugby versus UCL Rugby.

Then in 2014, the London Varsity expanded to include six other sports with fixtures taking place over a week, and is known as the London Varsity Series.

2025 recap

With a final standing score of UCL 24 - KCL 18 in the 2024 London Varsity Series, we narrowly missed out on bringing the Jeremy George Cup home. Despite last year’s disappointment, KCL still dominated many fixtures and some of our teams, including Water Polo (12-5), Tennis (4-1), are chasing repeat victories in 2026. A clean sweep of the Medic’s match ups gave GKT something to shout about in 2025.

Meanwhile, our Athletics, Ultimate Frisbee and American Football teams are seeking redemption after narrow losses last year, in fixtures that have historically been dominated by King’s. Following a last-minute game winning try from UCL, KCL Men’s Rugby will be looking to take inspiration from the Women’s team and fight for a dominant victory this time around.
