Referendum on Smoking Zones campaign

Should KCLSU withdraw its support for the campaign ‘To include smoking zones within each of King's campuses and libraries’? - The 'Yes' case

KCLSU should withdraw its support for this campaign.

Smoking poses a significant risk to health and is found by many to be particularly unpleasant. To allow smoking on campus would mean subjecting students who do not wish to be exposed to cigarette smoke to this.Smokers typically gather under cover around entrances to buildings in light of the smoking ban and the often inclement weather in the UK. This would mean students ae forced to enter or exit buildings through cigarette smoke. Further, In accordance with KCLSU and KCL promoting students wellbeing smoking should be discouraged by KCL and KCLSU and advice regarding smoking cessation provided. Whilst it is recognised that some students may still wish to smoke maintaining the current ban on smoking will allow students to use the college facilities without the unwelcome exposure
