Whether you’ve been dancing all your life or have never danced before, KCL Dance Society has something for you!
As proud winners of the prestigious KCLSU “Activity Group of the Year” Award 2015/16, and nominees for 16/17 and 17/18, we are the biggest and best society at King's College London!
We are based in West Wing at Guy's Campus near London Bridge and run classes in many different styles throughout the week, including:
Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Ballet, Commercial, Burlesque, Zumba, Barre Concept, Salsa and Bachata and Friday Workshops (which have previously included Bhangra, Irish Dance and Beyonce!)
Our classes are open to ALL levels and are a great place to meet new people with a passion for dance. All of our teachers are leading professionals in London coming from studios such as Pineapple, Base and Studio 68. It's a great way to get taught by the best an affordable price.
To try out our classes for FREE, come on down to our Taster Day in late September (details for 2018 TBA).
In the second term we run rehearsals for our annual dance show, the biggest Dance Soc event of the year, held at the Greenwood Theatre. With 150 dancers participating on average, this is an incredible opportunity for dancers and choreographers of all levels to perform, make friends and show the King's College London community just what we can do!
If you fancy taking dance to a competitive level, you can also join us! KCL Fusion, our award winning competition team, travel around the country to compete against other universities and represent King's nationally. We have teams competing in styles including Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap, Ballet and Wildcard, and we are always looking for strong dancers and choreographers to lead us to victory! We won and placed at competitions last year and hope to exceed this in the coming competition season. If you are a passionate dancer and would like to represent your university by competing nationally, do not miss our auditions!
We are also involved with the local community and hold various charity workshops and events throughout the year. This includes teaching workshops at schools, performing at functions, volunteering at local charities and collaborating with other socities to help raise money. Last year we raised significant amounts of money through our annual show and Strictly Come Dance Soc, which went to charities such as Parkinsons Can Dance!
