King’s College London Boat Club is a rowing club who's history dates back to the 1800's. We have been going from strength to strength in recent years and 2016/17 promises to be yet another exciting and successful season. We are a big friendly club with squads for experienced men and women and an active novice program for complete beginners. We encourage everyone to come and give rowing a try and if it isn't for you, have a think about joining our coxing team!
We share our boathouse with the prestigious Tideway Scullers School in Mortlake, West London. Water training is overseen by the men and women's head coaches; Cameron Bullock and Kieran Clark respectively. We have our own fleet of sweep boats that includes Janouseks, Filippis and Empachers as well as a small provision for experienced scullers. Off the water, fitness training is largely based at Guy’s campus in London Bridge where we have our ergs and regular circuit training sessions for all squads. The intensity of training varies depending on the squad but consists of a mixture of water training, circuit training, ergos and weight sessions.
The club competes nationally in both British rowing and BUCS races including the major Tideway head races, BUCS regatta and Henley Royal and Women’s Regattas. Closer to home there are opportunities for some friendly intercollegiate rivalry and a chance for the medics to fly the GKT flag at University of London and United Hospitals races.
After training we like to show we still know how to have a good time! The highlight of the social calendar is the annual tour to Cambridge (this year on the 19th and 20th of November) and we are always well represented at Guys bar and Temple Walkabout. We have many black tie events throughout the year, including our Christmas dinner (after the infamous Pudding Races) and Summer ball, starting with champagne and canapes in the iconic colonade at Guys.
