Hi everyone, my name is Naadirah Makonese a final year BSc Neuroscience student. I am the Women’s Network Co-Chair for the 2023-24 academic year and the Diversity and Inclusion officer for the Bioscience Student Association. Our mission within the KCLSU Women’s Network is clear: we're here to enhance the well-being of female students at King's while embracing intersectionality.
Intersectionality is about recognising that individuals have multiple, intersecting identities (such as gender, race, sexuality, disability, and more) that can lead to unique experiences. Our goal is to establish a leadership team that mirrors the rich diversity of the King's College London community. To achieve this, we plan to actively recruit members from a wide array of backgrounds, with a firm commitment to amplifying the voices of marginalized groups in our decision-making processes.
In addition, we are dedicated to prioritizing the promotion of awareness and understanding of intersectionality throughout the King's community. This means organizing workshops and facilitating discussions aimed at fostering empathy and mutual understanding among all members, regardless of their individual backgrounds. Together, we can create an inclusive environment that celebrates our differences and supports the well-being of everyone at King's.
