We won the NUS award for our commitment to diversity at the National Union of Students (NUS) conference this year. We also received Gold in the Best Bar None category for the third year running for our amazing bars Waterfront Bar & Kitchen and Guy’s Bar.
Alongside, the awards the NUS judged us “very good” as part of the Quality Student’s Union measure and for our Green Impact. In a great night for our student’s union the awards and accreditations recognised the work done together by every student at King’s College London as part of our union.
On KCLSU winning the NUS Award for diversity, the judges said “King’s demonstrated in their submission that their commitment to equality and diversity is much more than just a line in their strategic plan; it is a deeply held organisational commitment that is enacted on a daily basis in everything they do. Their work is structured, embedded and purposeful and the panel noted the quality, practicality and range of their projects as well as the clarity of their objectives and measures.
Their work is showing real impact. Of particular interest is their work with interfaith groups and students with disabilities.”
This year the awards received over 144 nominations from students’ unions across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales for the annual NUS Awards. The Awards are an annual celebration of the extraordinary work which students’ unions undertake each day and are an opportunity to applaud the unsung heroes from the movement whilst reflecting on the standout stories and achievements of the past year. The NUS Awards are judged by an experienced panel from across the education sector and beyond.
