Every year, our student body (including you!) elects six student representatives (our President and Vice Presidents) to represent all students within the Union and the university. The Officer Team works together to ensure their various manifesto aims are implemented throughout their time as officers, and that they are solving issues students truly care about.
In the past few years, our various Officer Teams have worked alongside – and sometimes, against – King’s to ensure all students have the best educational, social and personal experience while at university. They’ve worked on a variety of projects on student wellbeing, study spaces and more: have a look at some of their work below!
Our nap pods, currently installed at Waterloo Library and Bush House, are a prime example of “you said, we did”. Students constantly asked our officers for nap pods they could use to relax in-between lectures and while staying on campus for long hours, and our VPs Activities & Development Shaurya Vig (18/19) and Nakul Patwa (19/20) made this dream a reality – and allowed many more dreams to be had on the nap pods!

- Post-study work visas submission to UK Parliament:
King’s has a huge international and diverse community, and many of our students struggled to find full-time work that allowed them to remain in the country after their student visa expires, among many other issues. Our officers worked with KCLSU staff to write a paper to present to UK Parliament with other universities, and managed to push the government to create a new visa that will allow international students to work in the UK for two years after graduation.

- Guys, Bush House and Denmark Hill:
With almost 40 thousand members, the SU is always looking to improve and increase the number of study and activity spaces available to our students. In the last five years, we have opened three new union spaces with the help of our Officers: Guy’s, Bush House and the latest union space, Denmark Hill.
Our 2018/2019 VP Postgrads Jessica Oshodin started She Should Run, a project to inspire, empower and encourage women to run for elected positions especially sabbatical roles. The workshops and events brought many self-identifying women who didn’t usually visit union spaces to our activities, and inspired an increase in both nominations and elected women sabbatical officers in 2019.
