‘Not every disability is visible’

The campaign petition launched in December 2017 has recently passed the signature threshold needed to become an official KCLSU supported campaign.

Campaign lead Zain said, ‘We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign. You have helped us to make progress on raising further awareness of hidden disabilities and invisible chronic conditions, which impact a significant number of our staff and students here at King's.

‘It is through your help that we are taking strides towards making the university an even more inclusive and supportive educational environment for all.

The campaign team are getting the campaign off to a flying start and already have plans in place to launch an audit of accessible toilets across Kings.

Zain said, ‘Our forthcoming steps will involve conversing with the individuals overseeing King's Estates who are responsible for the accessible facilities and hoping these conversations progress as smoothly and quickly as possible.

‘Furthermore we hope to gather the support of various societies and departments at the university to emphasise the demand, need and immeasurable positive impact these signs will have across the institution, whilst potentially inspiring other universities to participate and implement similar signage.’
